Recently, I received an email from a reader, and she asked me if I ever found the perfect goggles! I realized I never did a follow up to my post that I wrote more than a year ago, on how I tried a bunch of goggles and none seemed to work for me. Well, I did find the perfect goggles, and I have some awesome goggle tips!
First, I bought a pair of TYR Nest Pro Nano goggles, due to a recommendation from my friend, Kim, and fell in love! The nano are the small version of the TYR Nest Pro goggles. I started out with the nano, and then decided that they were a bit small and were giving me big goggle lines, that I upgraded to the Nest Pro ones, and don’t have as many goggle lines now.
You can buy them here: http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/10892.htm?color=210
I have them in many different colors, and I have the metalized ones. I have swam a bunch in them, raced in them, and have never had a problem. They don’t fog, they don’t leak, and they don’t leave big red circles on your face.
Top 3 Tips for Goggle Wearing:
1. I spit in each lens, move it around, and then dunk in the water for a rinse, before EVERY use.
2. Don’t press the goggles into your face, they will sit perfectly, just adjust so that they are comfortable. Also, by pressing them in, that’s how the big goggle marks are left on your face.
3. Goggles don’t last forever. I had two nano pairs for last season, one clear, and one for sunny days, that lasted me the whole season, and then they did start to leak because they lose the sealant that’s on them, due to wear and tear. So, then I bought two regular Nest Pro ones for this season, and so far haven’t had to buy a new pair yet. Now, I did read a tip from a Pro on twitter, I believe, that said buy a new pair of goggles before each race, it ensure the sealant is on, they won’t fog, won’t leak, and are brand new! I think this is a good tip, but I don’t have the money to do it every race, but I probably will buy a new pair before IMWI, to ensure a successful swim:)
I hope this helps!

LOL about pressing goggles into your face…..raising my hand over here.
Now know. I have a pair of Aqua Sphere goggles that are about a year old, but I don’t swim as much as you.
I am trying to get at least once a week in now for cross training.
